In May 2026, Mandy set off alone on one of Australia’s most iconic long-distance walks: the 1,200km Heysen Trail in South Australia, stretching from Parachilna Gorge in the Flinders Ranges all the way to Cape Jervis. Carrying her own shelter, gear, food, and water, she completed the two-month journey entirely self-supported.
Mandy walked in support of Parkinson’s Australia to honour her close friend David, as well as the many Australians living with Parkinson’s. Every kilometre of rugged South Australian landscape was a step taken in solidarity with the people and families navigating Parkinson’s each day.
Mandy’s solo adventure is a testament to the strength of friendship – and to the extraordinary lengths people will go to for someone they care about deeply.
